Pacific health is hard work, but it can be very effective among this segment of the New Zealand community, who are significant users of the health system. In addition to the respiratory disease processes, one has to contend with multi-generational belief systems, poverty, and cultural perceptions.
In this presentation Api shares his vast experience in Pacific health and knowledge of the belief systems that can sometimes hinder adherence to best practice advice. As a health professional, Api is keen to share what has been shown to work best with Pacific people who want to be part of the solution to their health and wellbeing.
