Warmer Kiwi homes (EECA - Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority)

We all want a warm, dry, healthy home but that’s especially important if you have a respiratory condition, as putting on another jersey doesn’t help because you are breathing in cold air. However, well-installed insulation and efficient heating can improve your comfort and the health and well-being of your family, reducing the number of doctor’s visits and hospitalisations.

Government Warmer Kiwi Homes grants are available for lower-income homeowners (not rentals) and cover:

  • 80% of the total cost of ceiling and underfloor insulation. In some areas, the cost to you may be even lower, thanks to generous funding from community organisations.
  • 80% of the cost of an approved heater. This could be a heat pump or an efficient wood/pellet burner for the main living area. Heater grants are capped at $3000 including GST.

The demand for grants is high - apply now to avoid long waits when the winter cold snap arrives.
