This report has been prepared for the Ministry of Health to assist in the development of policies relating to the purchase and provision of traditional services. The intention is not so much to make a case for the inclusion of traditional healing within New Zealand's health services - to some extent that has already been done - but to discuss the many factors which will need to be taken into account when traditional healing services are subjected to statutory provisions or are at least formalised.
