Will you help keep families together when it matters most? Please consider making a donation to the Esther-Jordan Muriwai Āhuru Fund, today.
Each year, around 1,200 children are hospitalised with bronchiectasis - 1,200 children away from home, and 1,200 families facing fear and uncertainty apart from their loved one.
This illness doesn’t just affect a child — it impacts the whole family. But together, we can help ease that burden.
The Asthma and Respiratory Foundation, alongside our sister charity The Heart of Aotearoa – Kia Manawanui Trust, is establishing a travel grant to support families journeying to and from Starship Hospital while their child receives treatment.
This fund was inspired by Esther-Jordan Muriwai, a young Northland woman who lived with bronchiectasis. A passionate advocate, Esther-Jordan sadly passed away in 2014 at just 24 years old.
In her memory, and with the gifted name Āhuru — meaning comfort — we are proud to launch the Esther-Jordan Muriwai Āhuru Fund.
