Imagine struggling for each breath – something most of us take for granted. For 1 in 8 New Zealanders living with asthma, this is their daily reality.

This Blue Shirt Day, we're asking you to throw on something blue and help raise vital funds for the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ. Host your own fundraiser at school, work, or in your community – or simply make a personal contribution. Every effort makes a difference to hundreds of thousands of Kiwis.

Think about it – your workmate who needs their inhaler before hitting the gym, your niece who can't play at certain friends' houses because of their pets, your neighbour who dreads spring because pollen triggers an attack. Asthma touches all our lives in some way.

Your donation helps fund essential education programs, life-saving research, and support services that improve quality of life for people with respiratory conditions throughout New Zealand.

It's simple to get involved:

  • Wear blue on Tuesday 6 May 2025
  • Host a blue-themed morning tea, sports day, or casual Friday at your workplace
  • Organise a blue dress-up day at your school or community group
  • Donate what you can
  • Share your "why" – tell us who you're wearing blue for

Every dollar counts. Every breath matters. Join us in turning New Zealand blue for those who struggle to breathe.
