The New Zealand Respiratory Achievers Awards 2020 will take place at 6:30pm on November 5, 2020. The ceremony will be held at Te Papa, Wellington.

These Awards acknowledge those who overcome the challenge of a respiratory condition and live a life that many of us take for granted, as well as those who support these people and tell their stories.

Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ wants to celebrate people with respiratory conditions who have a great attitude and achieve things in their lives.

13 Awards will be presented at the event in Wellington in November, with all nominees being acknowledged. The categories are:

Individual Achievers Awards

-                Children's Achievement Award

-                Adolescent Achievement Award

-                Adult Asthma Achievement Award

-                COPD Achievement Award

-                Athletic Achievement Award

Community Achievers Awards

-                Community Award

-                Educator’s Award

-                Dr Graham Milne Health Professional Award

-                Corporate Award

-                Maori Engagement Award

Media Achievers Awards

-                Print & Online Media Award

-                Televised Media Award

-                Radio Award


The criteria for each category is below:

Individual Achievers Awards

-       They have a respiratory condition.

-       They take an active role in the management of their condition together with their health professional.

-       They are non-smokers.

-       They agree to being nominated.

Community Achievers Awards

-       They agree to being nominated.

Media Achievers Awards

-       The media must have been published between 20 November 2018 and 30 June 2020


We encourage you to nominate friends, family, colleagues, or anyone that you feel deserves recognition of the challenges they face – and overcome - every day.

Nominations close at 5pm, 30 June 2020.
