As New Zealand braces for another spike in respiratory illnesses during the cooler months, the importance of indoor air quality becomes harder to ignore.

That’s why AHI Carrier Toshiba – an air conditioning and heating solutions company - has partnered with the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ to support its work in this vital area.

AHI Carrier Toshiba has joined the Friends of the Foundation programme as a Bronze partner, backing efforts to improve respiratory health for the one in five Kiwis living with a respiratory condition.

Foundation Chief Executive Letitia Harding says the partnership comes at a crucial time of year for those with asthma and other respiratory diseases.

“Winter is one of the toughest seasons for people with respiratory conditions.

“A warm home is important, but if the air inside isn’t healthy, it can make symptoms worse,” she says.

“We’re thrilled to have AHI Carrier Toshiba on board. Their focus on indoor air quality directly supports our mission.”

AHI Carrier Toshiba Marketing Manager Shirli Talbot says the decision to support the Foundation is a natural extension of the company’s values.

“Our overarching value is one of care. We care for the people we work with, our customers, and those who use our products. We care about sustainability, the planet, and most of all, we care for the air.

“Most people are born breathing in and out – it’s something that comes naturally – but unfortunately, there are many who can’t take breathing for granted,” she says.

That’s why the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation is so vital to the people who need help.”

We are proud to support the Foundation, Ms Talbot says.

“Together, we hope to help more Kiwis live in healthier homes – especially at a time of year when it matters most.”

The partnership aims to raise awareness of the connection between indoor environments and respiratory health, and to support the Foundation’s ongoing education, advocacy, and research initiatives.
