As Chief Executive, I follow in the footsteps of some terrific people who have left a great legacy in a Foundation over 50 years old, and I take that responsibility and my role as Chief Executive very seriously. It is an opportunity to help make a real difference in the lives of so many people who live daily with asthma and respiratory challenges.
Recently I had the pleasure of meeting our life member Dr Graham Milne OBE, of Nelson.
Let me share with you that, in 1964, Dr Graham Milne OBE, a general practitioner in Naenae became concerned at the number of asthma cases he was treating, he approached the Naenae Rotary Club with the suggestion they set up a group to support people affected by asthma and their families, that group started what is the Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ today.
Graham is now 98 – I feel very privileged to have met him in person, and he shared some wonderful stories with me.
To those who donate to the Foundation, we feel enormous gratitude, because without them we would not be able to continue with the vital work we do, to improve the health outcomes for New Zealanders whose lives have been affected by respiratory disease.
Our donors have enabled us to provide:
The reasons for giving are many, a family member affected by an asthma or respiratory condition, a parent, your child, a work colleague, or you may have lost a loved one to this terrible disease. I sincerely thank you for honouring these individuals.
Please partner with us by making a Christmas donation to the Foundation today.
Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ is a national body, we provide many of our resources free of charge.
You may be aware; Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ does not receive government funding and is very dependent on our family of supporters.
I invite you to make a donation. Are you able to help us with a Christmas donation to continue our work?
Graham and the team joins me in wishing you happy and safe summer holidays. To some of you, 2017 may have bought challenging life/health changes – we wish you the very best of outcomes.

P.S. Breathing is something many of us don't think twice about. Your gift will make a difference for those who aren't so fortunate. I sincerely thank you!
