Ansell surgical gloves are a product of choice for health professionals.
Ansell Healthcare is a global manufacturer and marketer of high quality, low allergen latex and latex-free surgical gloves.
The quality of medical gloves is paramount in the prevention of infectious diseases and all our products are designed to fulfill one primary objective – simultaneous and unprecedented protection for the healthcare worker and patient alike. However, our products also fulfill other requirements such as high comfort levels, sensitivity, dexterity and a low risk of latex allergy or contact dermatitis.
Ansell has developed a series of measurements in its surgical range in order to avoid sensitivity:
1. Development of powder free gloves. Powder can link the latex and chemical residues. These allergen/protein coated powder particles can be aerosolised when the gloves are donned or removed. Inhalation or ingestion of these powders can lead to sensitisation and diverse allergic reactions to NRL (ie. upper respiratory tract symptoms or eye irritation).
It has been documented that a decrease in NRL-specific IgE blood levels on sensitised individuals after switching from powdered to powder free gloves is observed, and new workers’ sensitization is minimised when only powder free gloves are used.
2. Ansell surgical gloves go through Ansell’s P.E.A.R.L (Protein Endogenous Allergen Reduction Leaching Process) which leaves the gloves with a very low latex (<50 ug/dm2) and accelerators residue, thereby reducing the risks of developing latex allergy and contact dermatitis due to accelerators.
3. Surgical powder free range accelerator type:
Gammex PF Hydrasoft, Gammex PF and Nutex DermaShield use PV100 accelerator which is consumed during the manufacturing process leaving non-detectable chemical accelerator residue, thus reduces the risk of contact dermatitis.
DermaPrene Ultra is a unique glove that is both latex and accelerator free.
All these extra steps make the Ansell products a sensitive choice for healthcare professionals.
