What is an Asthma Friendly School?

An Asthma Friendly School (AFS) is a school that identifies children with asthma when they enrol at the school, whose staff are educated in asthma safety, which has an asthma policy and maintains a smokefree environment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Suggested policy

The Asthma Foundation has created a recommended policy package that schools can adopt. For an AFS policy read the PDF here.

How to become an AFS

The first thing schools should do if they are considering whether they qualify as an AFS or would like to become one is work through the form below. Please note that if you fulfil the other criteria but you do not have an asthma emergency kit, the Asthma Foundation can supply you with one.
