The Asthma Foundation has a new, modernised asthma self management plan for adults to be completed together by doctors and patients with asthma. A seven-step guide to writing the new plan has also been published; aimed at health professionals.
Advantages of the new plan over the previous one include that it covers both single intervention therapy (combination therapy) and conventional therapy. These plans are particularly important for all patients who have had a life-threatening episode, required hospitalisation, needed a course of oral steroids or frequently require out-of-hours urgent care.
