New Zealand has the second highest rates of asthma in the world. An estimated 600 000 New Zealanders have asthma, including about 1 in 4 children. Asthma is the most common reason for New Zealand children being admitted to hospital and can be life threatening.
Balloon Day increases the awareness of the negative impact asthma has on so many New Zealanders lives and supports the work that the Asthma Foundation enables in communities across New Zealand through its affiliated Asthma Societies.
The Asthma Foundation is very grateful to Mitre 10 for their generous support of Balloon Day 2010.
