
The 2009 Asthma and Respiratory Achievers Awards were held at Premier House in Wellington on 10 November. His Excellency, the Governor-General, the Honourable Sir Anand Satyanand presented trophies and framed certificates to nine Supreme Achievers.
The Achievers Awards acknowledge and celebrate New Zealanders with respiratory illnesses who achieve things in their lives, despite the challenges that they face.
The Cody Forbes Award for Courage is presented in the memory of 2005 Supreme Achiever, Cody Forbes, who was selected in the Maori Children’s category that year. Cody, from Turangi, passed away on 31 May 2007 shortly following his 16th birthday. He had cystic fibrosis.
In 2009, the Supreme Achievers were chosen from among more than 175 nominees.
